The Kattamordo Heritage Trail is a lovely 34km walk trail which starts in Mundaring, near the Weir and wanders through bush, old tree plantations and farm land along the top of the Darling Scarpe. It follows generally in the footsteps of the wooden tram/railway to Masons Mill in Carmel and then continues down through Bickley Valley to the Reservoir. The Trail can be started at either end. It passes some sites of significance in the history of the Perth Hills that include industries of long ago such as timber/forestry and tourism. The trail is deceptively long and has a great variance of elevation to keep your legs pumping. For those wanting to do smaller sections there are several vehicle access points along the way, and the opportunity to camp in some flatter clearings along the way.
